This is my last haul of shop orders and Christmas cards so Happy Holidays & New Year to you! See you in 2013, unless of course Armageddon hits as predicted on Friday. Regardless, I’m just happy looking at my special edition golden screenprinted holiday stickers. Yeah!
The lovely Charlotte of Lottie Loves is hosting a giveaway this week and you can win one of my botanical tea towels and lettepressed ornament cards. All you need to do is comment or like the Lottie Loves facebook page. Head over to Charlotte’s blog to participate here! It’s great place to pick up Christmas gift ideas as well if you are still looking, I’m especially partial to this selection of black & grey objects.
Remedy Quarterly, a beautifully made food magazine from the US had a launch party for their newest “Comfort” issue and asked previous contributors to illustrate their idea of comfort food for their exhibition at the Beginnings Gallery in Brooklyn. As a big fan of the slow and laborious process involved in eating pomegranates, they are my comfort food of choice. I wish I could have gone to the launch party, the gallery looks amazing!
I’m excited to be part of Pikaland‘s first calendar in the illustrious company of lots of awesome illustrators, amongst others Yelena Bryksenkova who was also part of the Fairy Tale exhibition at Foyles and Ana Albero who has been a favorite of mine for a while. You can buy the calendar and accompanying zine here.
I am really excited to be part of this exhibition in honour of the Grimm’s Fairy Tales 200 year anniversary. Curated by Emma Block, this show collects the work of Emmeline Pidgen, Laura Barrett, Yelena Bryksenkova, Lesley Barnes and Natsuki Otani and draws inspiration from the well known fairy tales of our childhood as well as slightly more obscure stories from the original collection. The exhibition runs until the 7th of December and it’s free! Foyles is a great place for Christmas shopping anyway so definitely stop by if you can. All the work on show is also for sale so if you’d like a handmade screenprint ( gold no less!) e-mail me for details.
