This is a collaboration between myself and Carly from Bison Bookbinding who commissioned me to do the illustrations for her re – design of the tea packaging for Flying Bird Botanicals. It was a really great project to be involved in, I got to draw about a million birds and the design turned out beautiful. Also a winner as far as getting samples of your work go, now I have a whole box of organic tea. Photo is by Mitch Mandel and select items are available here at Rodale’s.
Some pictures from the To London With Love postcard exhibition private view at Material bookshop on Rivington street.
Warning: the next couple of posts will be heavy on the Christmas.
Not only are Little White Lies throwing a film festival this weekend, they also ran a pop up shop in Old Street station to show off their 50th anniversary edition. I’m glad I had the chance to stop by and see it before it closed this week and it was nice to see my drawing on the wall. As per usual, everything was executed awesomely from the wooden crates with stacks of magazines, the vinyl on the window, a record softly playing (on an ACTUAL record player) and a really friendly lady staffing the shop. Not to mention how great the magazine looks. Just do yourself a favour and buy a LWL subscription for anyone you haven’t got a gift for yet, any maybe yourself. These guys know what they are doing. I really liked the lone shopper I drew so I thought I’d extend the theme. It’s a fairly accurate representation of how I feel about Christmas shopping, especially in London. Going to Oxford Street at this time of year is like a suicide mission.
Save the Children organised a Secret Winter Gala this year to raise money and commissioned me to do a typographic treatment for the invitations. The whole Gala was themed around The Nutcracker including a dance performance by the English National Ballet apparently which sounds amazing. Anywho: here is the invite.
If you’re having trouble getting into the Christmas spirit you could do worse than buy the December Issue of Homes & Gardens which is full of amazing places and photos of people decorating seasonally with more gusto than you could imagine. I’m excited that some of my cards made it into one of their Christmas photo shoots!
